Hoop House was a 6 week long exploration with steel frames and heat shrink plastic. We were given a planter bed in Phipps Conservatory and were tasked with designing and building a membrane structure that would provide protection for the plants in the winter.
The idea behind the design was to create a simple structure with clean and elegant joints and the fewest materials possible. The result was a continuous length of conduit that was broken into modules for a simple assembly.
This project was done in collaboration with Clara Zhao, Jenna Guo, Sarah Kang, and Shariq Shah.
